Thank you and goodbye to the many 451 Alliance members that I’ve interviewed, written for, and corresponded with over the years, as I am officially retiring at the end of June, 2026.
Alliance members, your insight over the years has been impressive, our conversations informative, sometimes humorous, sometimes serious. You’ve taken time out of a busy IT schedule to chat about your organization, providing a brief summary of the issues you were facing and the next steps you were taking. I’ve followed some of you from job to job to job, as you’ve advanced your career.
In our conversations, you’ve aired your views on trends—for example, virtualization, cloud, outsourcing, colocation and now artificial intelligence (AI). You’ve expressed the trials of trying to please multiple stakeholders—end users of technology, the C-suite, vendors, Boards and business owners. You’ve shared expertise around equipment and infrastructure, from selection, implementation, and maintenance to end-of-life. You’ve outlined the challenges you’ve faced in furthering digital transformation goals, forced to change long-standing processes, sometimes in the face of -opposition from users. Most recently, you’ve related your concerns about AI. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your help and best wishes to all. I’m on LinkedIn if you’d like to keep in touch. I will always be happy to talk about technology. Advice about crafting the perfect retirement is also welcome!
We’ll miss Amy but we will still be interviewing 451 Alliance members as part of our qualitative research program. If you’d like to be interviewed, let us know.
